About Housing Authority of Travis County

The Housing Authority owns and operates 105 units of conventional public housing in three developments in Travis County and manages the Choice Voucher Housing Assistance Program for Travis County.
The Housing Authority offers a small number of non-subsidized single family homes available on the private market and is actively involved with developing several other public and private housing related initiatives.
The Housing Authority does not have funding available for emergency housing assistance or home buyer programs.
The Housing Authority of Travis County (HATC) has some programs similar to those available through the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) but, while similar in mission, both agencies are independent.
The three conventional public housing developments provide rental assistance to qualified individuals and families through federally subsidized funding.
Development sites consist of small duplexes in residential neighborhoods.
The Choice Voucher Housing Assistance Program (historically referred to as Section 8) provides rental vouchers for approximately 400 units of assisted housing in the private market.
HATC also offers 152 non-subsidized apartments and a small number of non-subsidized single family homes available on the private market.

The Housing Authority of Travis County, Texas is committed to providing quality, decent, safe and affordable housing to eligible families in this community. We strive to make the best use of all available resources so that our residents may live in an environment that is clean, well maintained and attractive. Our goal is to manage our Public Housing, Section 8 Affordable Housing and Homeownership Programs in a manner that is consistent with good, financially sound property management practices. We promote self-sufficiency and endeavor to instill pride and a desire for an enhanced quality of life for our resident families. We undertake affirmative measures to make all services available to all eligible families regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, and disabilities.
